5 Ways to Instantly Beautify Your Home... Think of it as Botox for your living room

Add fresh flowers: It doesn’t matter where they come from really. The market, a bad date, your neighbor’s yard.... but take the time to bring some into your home! Choose colors that compliment the room you are going to be placing them in and an easy way to create a super chic arrangement is by choosing a variety of flowers all in one color ( white: roses, tulips, peonies, etc). You will get a clean, elegant arrangement that is interesting due the variety in shapes and textures. Although decorative vases are always a lovely option, sometimes the best route is using clear florist vases that come in simple shapes. They are budget friendly and gorgeous. Another option is to use interesting greenery for more contemporary spaces.

Grab a throw!  And well... throw it! Cashmere, cotton, wool, solid, or patterned, a throw blanket will give you a luscious pop of color and that added layer which makes your space look decked out by the pros. As a designer, we often joke about “the art of the carefully placed throw.” This is a real thing! Check your Pinterest pics and the latest on Elle Decor and you will notice how these blankets innocently “thrown” about can really make a difference.

Bonus tip: Choose different throws for different seasons to instantly change the feeling of your room. A chunky wool cable knit throw is sexy and cozy for the winter while a light colored cashmere throw brings light and energy to a space during warmer months.

Sexy Storage: It may sound ridiculous but most people’s homes would look at least 50% better if they had organizational options that ADDED instead of detracted from the overall aesthetic of a space. Fun chunky baskets, a variety of decorative containers, and trays can all help contain the chaos. What to do with all of those millions of bottles you have in your bathroom? Choose the ones that are the prettiest and arrange them by height on a tray to put on your bathroom counter top. Voila! Your beauty goods will be instantly accessible and chic all at the same time. Who could imagine anything better? ( Sorry but the ugly ones might have to go in the cabinet... or hidden behind your tall bottle of designer perfume)

Update your picture frames:  I know that your best friend in college gave you a photo in the cutest frame ever but its time to evolve. We love being surrounded by images of our friends, family, and loved ones but why not give them the respect they deserve by placing them in a well designed frame that adds ambiance to the room. There is a plethora of affordable options that will suit every style from super modern to Moroccan. Choose frames that have interesting textural elements like leather, bone inlay, wood, and metal. Then pair different ones together and arrange them in small groups by varying height.

Books are great looking and educational: Who knew!?! Coffee table books are hard bound, covered in lovely glossy covers, and vary in size and shape. Designers use books all the time to finish the overall look of a room because they add dimension to a flat coffee or side table and the color can be beneficial to the overall visual dimension of the space.  Go ahead and buy a few coffee table books on topics that you are actually interested in! Brains and beauty are always a winning combination.
